Serpientes y Monstera

This design was initially used as a carving demonstration during the Herter Brothers' Furniture Exhibition at The High Museum of Atlanta several years prior to its completion as a table. The idea developed as I lazily watched a worm crawling and burrowing through small leaves and grass.

One of my favorite plants is the Monstera with its giant leaves with holes. My fascination for snakes added to a more tropical interpretation of my languid observations. The legs are the image of that most malodorous, but amazing Amorphophallus titanum or the corpse flower which bloomed at The Atlanta Botanical Gardens in 1998.

Material: cherry, curly maple, glass

Dimensions (h x w x d): 17 x 42 x 20
